Burial Service
Our Islamic Burial Service is the oldest and most experienced in Victoria. We have the knowledge and expertise to provide you with the proper service during the difficult time of dealing with the loss of a loved one. Our service is purely Islamic giving you the assurance that the last action relating to the deceased was done according to the teachings of our beloved Prophet peace be upon him.
Arabic Language School (Saturday School)
The Islamic Society of Victoria Arabic School is an accredited school and has been running for over 20 years. Former students now bring their children to the school in order to learn Arabic, the language of the Quran.
Hajj Service
Our Hajj service is of the highest service and standards. Our Hajj package has been increasing in popularity every year due to fulfilling our commitments. The package is competitively priced.
Udhiyah / Qurban Project
A highly recommended Sunnah, we provide Udhiyah to the poor Muslims across the world. We deal with reputable organisations to ensure prompt delivery. Sometimes we are even able to negotiate slaughtering in the poor countries so that they will receive it on Eid Day.
Orphan Sponsorship
One of the most honourable deeds we can do is to sponsor an orphan. The Prophet, peace be upon him said that he and the sponsor of an orphan will be together in the Hereafter. We are able to assist you with sponsoring an orphan.
Well Projects
Simple things like water are taken for granted in developed countries like Australia. However in the underdeveloped countries it is one of their greatest concerns. You can sponsor a well project that will benefit at least 1600 people in a village for as little as $600.
Quran Classes Males and Females
The Prophet peace be upon him said, “the best of you is the one who learns the Quran and teaches it”. We have regular Quran classes. Check our classes timetable for class times.
Classes and Lectures
Our dear Sheikh, Sheikh Mohamad Abou Eid inspires us every week with his classes.
Wednesday he takes us through the Quran and its interpretation & teaching us the differences in opinions as well.
On Saturdays with Sheikh Mohamad Abou Eid we explore the Sunnah through the works of Imam Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani, may Allah be pleased with him in his book Bulugh Al-Maram.
The classes are fixed all year round between Maghrib and Isha’
Friday Khutba
Sheikh Mohamad Abou Eid captivates us every week during his Khutba. The Khutba is then translated in English by one of our translators making it beneficial for all who attended.
At the Preston Mosque the Khutba is at the time of Dhuhr all year round. We do not have a fixed time for the whole year.
Sisters are welcomed to pray Jumaa with us. There is a section for woman at the rear of the Masjid.
Daily Prayers
The Masjid is open from Fajr till half an hour after Isha. About ten minutes is allowed after Athan for Sunnah prayer before the Iqamah except for Fajr & Maghrib. Half an hour is allowed for the Fajr Iqamah and five minutes is allowed for the Maghrib Iqamah.
Taraweeh
Ramadan is a time when you see the Masjid like a beehive. During the day and especially in the evening. Our Taraweeh prayers are done with the elderly in our community in mind and taking into mind that people have work the next day whilst still giving the people the sense that they spent a night in worship and devotion to their Creator.
Ramadan Iftar’s
Every year the Preston Mosque runs a daily Iftar for members of our community, our aim is to attract international students, new Muslims and anyone else who might want to join his/her brothers or sisters for Iftar.
Islamic and Civil Marriage Service
At the Preston Mosque we can perform an Islamic and Civil marriage. Our Imams, Sheikh Fehmi Naji El-Imam and Sheikh Mohamad Abou Eid are both authorized marriage celebrants. To book an appointment please contact the office on 9470 2424.
Notice of Intended Marriage
People need a Notice of Intended Marriage for different purposes. Whatever the purpose is we can arrange one for you.
If you were born in Australia we will require your birth certificate and if you were born overseas we will need the passport you entered Australia with even if it’s expired.
Furthermore if you were married previously we will need your divorce certificate.
When all the above mentioned documents are ready, call us on 9470 2424 for an appointment.
Sisters only Classes
At the Preston Mosque we recognise that the most important member of the household is the wife, mother, sister or daughter. As they are the ones raising our kids it is of the most importance that they have the correct Islamic knowledge for them self and their family.
By them knowing how to read Quran they will be able to teach their kids Quran, and by them having knowledge in Islam they will be able to raise them as pious kids.
Counselling Service (Islah)
If two people have had fallout, regardless of their relationship (married couple, brothers, business partners, etc) we will do our best to reconcile between them
Religious Advise
Sometime a person is unsure of what is permissible or not. Or how to distribute something according to the teachings of Islam. Whatever your question is, refer it to our Imams for the correct advise.
Zakat Distribution
We are able to distribute your Zakat for you through our connections to different organizations around the world.
Aid and Assistance (Natural Disasters, War affected, Palestine, etc…)
From time to time a disaster will strike, whether it’s a natural disaster or inflicted by man. We have a relationship with many organizations that are dealing with these disasters on the ground.
